UPGRADE!

As of this post I have upgraded the blog to WordPress 2.7, looking very sharp! Expect a video from us soon reviewing it. Bryan and I have lots more coming, tons of crazy great ideas planed for future videos!

Big thanks to the wordpress team, they did a great job, if you would like to see some of the great new features in WordPress 2.7, I really recommend this video:

    WP 2.7′s slick UI gives me inspiration to blog again. :)

    I know I want to upgrade, but I’m unsure if I have to do anything fancy to keep everything the way it is. I’ve made changes to things and have completely forgotten where they were changed.

    Did you have any issues installing the upgrade? Did you just overwrite your installation directory, or use some other method?

    You can always back up the wp dir and if there are any problems there will not be an issue. I just upgraded our internal server for some of the web apps. WordPress was the easiest. Moodle and
    Drupal were a bit more complicated.

    @Benjamin -

    I used a WordPress plugin called Automatic Upgrade, which performs a full file and database backup before it kicks off. Works really slick!

    Hey Chris,
    I upgraded to 2.7 last weekend, as well as upgrading a WordPress site for a friend who is promoting her first novel. It was my first time upgrading so I was extremely nervous. I looked for a plugin that would do it for me, but I couldn’t find one.

    I have a plugin a plugin that e-mails out regular database backups so I knew I was covered for the worst happening. (It’s something I recommended to Bryan on Twitter after he nuked his site, you can find it at http://www.ilfilosofo.com/blog/wp-db-backup ). Would you mind posting a link to the auto-upgrade plugin you used, please?

    @Benjamin,
    I did my upgrades manually, following these instructions:

    Ignore my request for plugin link – I’ve just seen the video and see that it’s a feature built into WP2.7 now!
